SIEGER WHITE FOUNDATION

Sieger White Encouragement Award 2025

PROJECT: RP002 - HEXAQUATIC ENTROPY (32-BIT) (TBA)

The Sieger White Foundation is committed to preserving the artistic legacy of painter couple Fred Sieger (1902–1999) and Helen White (1911–2010) and to supporting young, emerging talent from the
Eastern Netherlands.

In part due to Fred’s teaching position at the Arnhem art academy, Fred and Helen wished that part of their estate would be used to stimulate talented artists. We realize this through the Sieger White Award in collaboration with het Cultuurfonds and the Sieger White
Encouragement Prize in collaboration with ArtEZ.

Jury and Evaluation
Each year, two artists are selected by a professional jury and awarded a prize of €5,000 each.

The jury consisted of:

       • Marie Reintjes, visual artist, alumna of HKU & ArtEZ, winner of the            Sieger White Award 2024

       • Els Drummen, art historian, curator of modern art / exhibition                     programmer at CODA Apeldoorn

       • Stijn Geutjes, curator at Kunstwerk! Liemers Museum, secretary              of the Sieger White Foundation
The following criteria were assessed:

authenticity, craftsmanship, imagination, concept, and
presentation.

The jury provided the following statement regarding the work Kaan Orkan Piskin exhibited during the ArtEZ Finals 2025:

"Kaan Orkan Pişkin impressed the jury with an installation that combines the highly current geopolitical themes of defence threats, cybercrime and data independence while creating a possible new way to empower our environment. And by doing so raising the question if a new ecological balance can exist or is it just a new way of human and technology overpowering nature once again? The jury has found that this artist is a real visionary.
